Short-term rentals
Palm Beach County's 6% tourist development tax applies to rent on stays up to six months, cleaning and pet fees included, and comes in addition to the 6.5% sales tax charged in the county.
For investors: The county Tax Collector says online platforms do not remit this tax to it, so a West Palm Beach host files every month, due the 1st and late after the 20th, including $0 returns for months with no bookings.

Short-term rental hosts in Palm Beach County need a tourist tax account plus a Short-Term Rental Local Business Tax Receipt, renewed each year by September 30, and both numbers must appear in every listing.
For investors: Every tourist tax account needs its own short-term rental receipt, so a duplex run as two accounts carries two of each. A property manager can file for the owner once the owner assigns the account to the manager in the Tax Collector's portal.

West Palm Beach issues its own rental tax receipt plus a certificate of use, $50 the first year and $20 a year after, and then signs the zoning section of Palm Beach County's application.
For investors: Order matters: the zoning section of the county business tax application is signed at City Hall only after the city approves its own receipt. City receipts run October 1 to September 30, renewals open July 1, and unpaid accounts turn delinquent with a penalty on October 1.
