Rental registration and inspection
Palmdale Ordinance 1273, adopted February 13, 2006 and codified in Municipal Code Chapter 8.40, requires every residential rental, single-family houses included, to register with Building and Safety and pass a city inspection.
For investors: Register a Palmdale rental with Building and Safety within 60 days of converting it to a rental. When buying one already registered, the buyer or seller must notify the Building Official within 60 days of the sale, or the certificate of compliance expires automatically.

Palmdale's handout lists combined registration, permit and GIS fees of $224.91 for a single rental unit on its own property and $131.15 for units on a property with multiple housing units.
For investors: Registration covers the first inspection and one follow-up for each unit, and any extra visit costs more. Clearing items inside the 30-day correction window keeps a Palmdale owner's spend close to the registration fee itself.
